Calgary live weather with lofi music

The live sky over downtown Calgary and the Calgary Tower, following the real weather, with lofi music and a weather friend. The sky changes with the real weather in Calgary: sun, cloud, rain, snow, fog, wind and storms, by day and by night.

Weather in Calgary right now

What you see in the Calgary sky

The view looks south from the Crescent Heights bluff, over the trees of Sunnyside, to downtown Calgary and the Calgary Tower.

The trees follow the real satellite leaf dates in Sunnyside and Crescent Heights: new leaves in spring, green summer, gold fall, then bare trees or snow. When there is snow on the ground in Calgary, there is snow in the picture. At dusk the windows of the towers light up.

On a clear, dark night the northern lights can show over the city when the real aurora forecast is strong. Geese fly over in spring and fall. On Flames game nights the city lights up in team colours. There are fireworks on Canada Day, at New Year, and at the end of every Stampede night.

Where the weather comes from

Environment Canada observations at Calgary International Airport: the observer for the sky, the automatic station for the temperature, wind and snow on the ground, and the airport report for how far you can see. Open-Meteo gives rain and snow amounts. The sky checks for new weather every few minutes.

Is this a live camera?

No. The sky is an animated drawing, and the weather in it is real. Clouds, rain, snow, fog, wind, the sun and the moon follow live weather data for Calgary, so the picture matches the real sky.

The lofi music

The lofi music follows the weather too, with different songs for clear skies, rain and snow, by day and by night. Code makes all of the music live, and new songs come in every night. Tap the sky to start the music.

The weather friends

A small friend for each kind of weather visits the corner of the screen while its weather lasts. Meet them all on the friends page.
